Joe Marenda is the Head of Hedge Fund Research, Head of Digital Assets Investing, and a Partner at Cambridge Associates.
Joe joined Cambridge Associates in 2006 and has more than 25 years of investing experience, with a focus on alternative assets. He oversees the discovery, diligence, and recommendation of new and established hedge fund managers. He also chairs the Hedge Fund Ratings Committee.
Responsible for finding and assessing venture and hedge funds focused on digital assets, Joe completed the firm’s first due diligence on a digital assets fund in 2017 and has been working with client investments in digital assets funds since 2018.
Joe is often cited in the media and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and client events on both hedge funds and digital assets. He regularly contributes to firm research, including our research paper, Hedge Fund-ing the Pension Deficit.
Prior to joining Cambridge Associates, Joe worked for a hedge fund and a venture capital firm. He also took over as a turnaround CEO at Keizon, K.K., a Tokyo-based Internet company focused on the Japanese public markets.
Joe received his MBA from University of Virginia, his MA in East Asian Studies from Yale University, and his BA in East Asian Languages & Cultures from University of Southern California.
