Learn our criteria and screening process
Our objective is to know managers well so that we can represent them well in considering them for portfolios. We start by collecting data and materials. Then, if appropriate, we meet to conduct an in-depth analysis and perform risk reviews—all before recommending any manager to a client.
Our process divides managers into two categories—Public and Private—each with its own review process. The below PDF provides an overview of our process and what managers can expect when being considered by Cambridge Associates.
If you’d like to be considered, download the guide and submit your information after identifying the type of manager you are.
Private Managers
Join our benchmarks
Participating funds are added to Cambridge Associates’ internal database, thereby increasing the manager’s exposure and visibility to CA’s investment teams. Additionally, funds may be added to our Optica Research platform, through which clients are able to see more detailed information regarding managers and funds. Benefits of joining our private investment benchmarks include:
Receive Comparative Data
As participants, managers receive copies of the Cambridge Associates’ quarterly benchmark reports for the asset class(es) in which they participate—free of charge.
Marketing Effectiveness
Managers have the ability to use the benchmark data, sourced appropriately in their marketing materials and other investor materials.
Rankings
Cambridge Associates is able to provide managers with their funds’ rankings within their vintage year by IRR and Multiples.
Public Managers
Join our database
Participating funds that are applicable to institutional clients are added to Cambridge Associates’ internal database, thereby increasing the manager’s exposure and visibility to CA’s investment teams. Additionally, funds may be added to our Optica Research platform, through which clients are able to see more detailed information regarding managers and funds.
You can also include your marketing materials, which will help us know more about you and, after which we can evaluate your fund in the context of the current needs of our clients.
We define public managers to include long-only funds and hedge funds.
